Wilmer "Wimp" Dreiling

Wilmer "Wimp" Dreiling, age 86, of Ellis passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney. He was born June 1, 1927 in Severin, Kansas to Edmond and Elizabeth (Rupp) Dreiling. He married Donna (Ellis) Mickelson on May 8, 2004 in Ellis.

He was a Tool Pusher for several oilfield companies retiring from Abercrombie Oil Company. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII where he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal-Japan. He was a lifetime Ellis VFW member serving as Commander and also as District Commander, Hays American Legion, St. Marys Church, Ellis Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degrees and ASGR-American Society of Germans from Russia.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Ellis; a son, John Dreiling of Wichita; three step-sons, Fred Mickelson and wife Becky , Greg Mickelson and Bob Mickelson and wife Margie all of Ellis; two step-daughters, Mickie Dechant and husband Marvin of WaKeeney and Billie Shippy and husband Cannon of Brighton, CO; a brother, Bob Dreiling and wife Sandy of Aladdin, WY;14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also survive him.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Jean Steckline and Mary Moore.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday 6:30 PM 8:00 PM and Thursday, 9:00 AM until service time all at St. Marys Church.

There will be an Ellis 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 PM followed by a parish vigil both at the church.
