William "Bill" King

William A. "Bill" King, 63, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Hays, Kansas. Bill was born May 8, 1947 in Ellis, Kansas. He was the son of William and Kathryn King, both of Ellis. Bill grew up in Ellis and graduated from Ellis High School in 1965. He went on to graduate from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1970 and the University of Missouri in 1972. Bill was a life-long coach and teacher who was dedicated to his students and athletes. He spent many years working with special-needs kids and was an ardent supporter of drug-free athletes. Bill is survived by his daughter, Megan Clark, and son, Chad King, both of Overland Park, Kansas, his two granddaughters, and many cousins and extended family. Memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2:00p.m. at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, Kansas. Inurnment will follow services at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the YMCA Challenger Program (www.kansascityymca.org/adaptive) or Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas (www.kwu.edu).
