William J. Hansen 'Bill', 73, of Ellis, Kansas left this world to be at peace on Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Bill was born September 18, 1947 in Smith Center, Kansas to William Hansen & Evelyn Lamont, both whom are now deceased.

Bill married the love of his life, Edna Loflin, on August 16, 1971. The couple celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Bill proudly served his country in two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He retired from the military in 1987 . Bill was employed with Lantis Corp in California until moving to Kansas to enjoy being fully retired.

Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, western dancing and spending time with his family. Anyone that knew Bill well, knew that he loved a good joke. Bill was an active member of Ellis VFW Post 9139 and assisted in the construction of the Veterans Memorial in Ellis, KS. Bill was instrumental in building and maintaining the rodeo arena grounds for the Ellis County Fair.

Bill is survived by his wife, Edna Hansen of Ellis; his two children, Jeffrey Hansen (Hector Valles) of Dallas, TX and Michelle Burch of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Jaleesa Jackson, Mariah Jackson and Ebon Jackson of Topeka, Kansas and great-granddaughter Rayne, Topeka, Kansas; his brother, Charles Hansen Sister-in-law, Carol; two nieces and one nephew; seven grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

William Hansen was known to some as "Bill" and to others as Husband, Dad, Grandpa, "TOP" and friend. He will be greatly missed in the lives of his family and friends, as well as in the community. He will always be remembered in love and thoughts of him will be cherished of the time he spent on this Earth.

Memorial Contributions may be made in the name of William "Bill" Hansen to the Ellis VFW.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at WaKeeney, Kansas.

Visitation will be Thursday 5 PM - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637.
