Wendell and Joyce (Beggs) Winn

Wendell and Joyce Beggs Winn, married for 54 years, are now reunited in heaven.

Joyce (Beggs) Winn of Bedford, Texas, passed away on June 29, 2019 after a short illness. She was born in Salina, KS on December 13, 1928 to parents John Lowell and Emma Lee (Lewis) Beggs. Joyce lived independently right until the last months of her life. She spent many years at home rearing her children, but then found a new purpose working for the Elk Grove Village (IL) school system.

Wendell Winn of San Juan Capistrano, CA passed away on May 10, 2002. He was born in Denver, CO on January 1, 1925 to parents Ira Courtney and Pearl Catherine (Pfaul) Winn. Wendell was employed for over three decades with Carpenter Paper Company of Denver, CO and then Chicago, IL.

Joyce and Wendell met in Denver, CO in 1947 soon after he returned home from serving our country in the US Navy. Joyce had just moved to Denver after graduating from Ellis High School in Ellis, KS. Wendell had graduated a few years prior from West High School in Denver. Joyce worked as a secretary for Stonegate Sign Company in Denver. They married in Denver on January 10, 1948.

Joyce and Wendell were wonderful parents, in-laws, grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents to Carol Winn Vander Meade (Larry) of Crystal Lake, IL, David Winn (Kathy Pischke) of Merrimac, MA, Susan Winn Thompson (Phillip) of Bedford, TX, and Gordon Winn (Stacy Mosier) of Aliso Viejo, CA and all their children. They had called many places “home” including Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Des Plaines, IL, Wheeling, IL, and San Juan Capistrano, CA.

They are laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetary, Ellis, Kansas in the Beggs Family Plot.
