Obituary



Wanda Lou Pilkington, age 91, of Hays, Kansas passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit. She was born December 6, 1931 in Colby, Kansas to Nick and Marcella (Schlyer) Eberle. She married John E. Pilkington July 30, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2004.



Wanda had worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell starting in Colby, then Norton and finally Hays. She also was the bookkeeper for her husbands business, Pilkington Construction. Wanda enjoyed being a grandmother and attending their sporting events, rarely if ever missing one. She also enjoyed crocheting and counted cross stitching as well as spending time with John fishing, boating, camping and an occasional casino trip for good measure.

Wanda is survived by her children, Sandi Scott of Hays, John Pilkington and wife Carla of Oakley and Don Pilkington and wife Mary of Louisville, Colorado; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a daughter, Tami Pilkington and two sisters, Jeannie Dreiling and Judy Wintz.



Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 AM until service time all at Brock's Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hays Christian Church.
