Trula J Cox, 84, passed away peacefully August 24th, 2012, under the wonderful care of Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, Arizona. She was born January 16, 1928 in Minneapolis, KS to Clyde and Virginia (Emery) Merryfield, and graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1945. She married Claude Cox on April 3, 1949, and spent most of her life on their family farm near Palco, KS before they retired to Hays. Upon her husbands passing, she moved to Arizona to be near her daughter.
She was a loving, active wife and mother who enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, gardening and her volunteer work at the Hays Medical Center.
Trula is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Sanderbeck of Sherman, IL and Shirley Cox Knipp of Scottsdale, AZ, a brother, Laddie Merryfield of Kansas City, four grandchildren, Justin, Catherine, Michael and Matthew and three great-grand children, Jeremiah, Amalia, and Sydnie.
She is preceded in death by her husband.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Brocks North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601, with burial at the Fort Hays Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday and 10:00 am until service time Thursday all at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hays Medical Center Auxiliary, the Palco Fire Department or Hill City Fire Department, in care of the mortuary. Condolences may be sent by guest book at www.keithleyfuneralchapels.com or emailed to keithley@ruraltel.net
