Steven M. Schmidt

Obituary



Steven M. Schmidt, age 61, of Hays, Kansas passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 in Hays. He was born March 20, 1957 in Denver, Colorado to Melvin and Mary Ellen (Mermis) Schmidt. He graduated from TMP-Marian in 1975 and earned a bachelors degree from Fort Hays State University. On June 2, 1978 he married Sue Ellen Ubert in St. Josephs Church.

Steve was the property manager for Western Investments. He was a member of St. Josephs Church and he enjoyed fishing and golfing in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Schmidt of Hays; his father, Melvin Schmidt of Hays; two sons, Scott Schmidt and wife Rachel of Smithville, Missouri and Kyle Schmidt of Flagstaff, Arizona; two brothers, Neal Schmidt and wife Mary Jo of Center Valley, Pennsylvania and Jeff Schmidt of Hays; a grandson, Carter Schmidt of Hays and a nephew, Quinn Schmidt of Center Valley.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Hays.

Visitation will be 5:30 PM 8:00 PM Wednesday at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

A combined rosary and parish vigil service will be 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Thomas More Prep-Marian, St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Hays Medical Center Hospice
