Steve Schmeidler

Stephen "Steve" K. Schmeidler, age 51, of Hays, passed away Sunday, June 19th in rural Trego County. He was born October 14, 1959 in Hays to Kenneth and Elizabeth "Betty" (Polifka) Schmeidler. He graduated from TMP-Marian High School in 1977 and from Fort Hays State University with a degree in Business Communications. He married Bev Bowles on April 25, 1987 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas. Steve was an accountant for Bennett-Schulte Oil of Russell, KS. He enjoyed spending time at the lake boating and being with family and friends. He was a member of St. Joseph Council #1325 Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Bev of the home; three daughters, Megan Schmeidler of Elkhart, KS., Molly and Macks Schmeidler of the home; his parents, Kenneth and Betty Schmeidler of Hays; a sister, Carla DeRemer; a brother-in-law, Stew Cresse both of Muskegon, MI. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Cresse. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601. A St. Joseph Council Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 6:30 P.M. followed by a parish vigil service on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to TMP-Marian High School.
