Stanley Jay Dreiling

Stanley Jay Dreiling, age 56, of Hays, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at Hays Medical Center. He was born January 1, 1955 in Hays, Kansas to James G. and Rita (Wiesner) Dreiling. He married Jan Reever on March 26th, 1988. She preceded him in death on August 28th, 2003. After graduating from Thomas More Prep in 1973, he worked in the family business, Midwest Tobacco and Candy, with his father and uncle, T.J. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. During his spare time, he would often be found visiting with friends and neighbors or cooking in the kitchen. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and visiting with family. His energy and excitement for life was never more evident than when a phone call or a visit came from a loved one. He is survived by his mother, Rita of Altera Sterling House in Hays; three brothers, Stephen Dreiling and wife Diann of Aurora, CO., Dr. Roger Dreiling and wife Lynn of Lawrence and David Dreiling of Dallas; a son, Jason Dreiling and wife Christy of Overland Park; his step-children; Mike Reever, Olathe, Dale Reever, Bonner Springs, Traci Burney and husband, Jim, Olathe, Marci Handley and husband, Steve, Kansas City, Ks, Jami Reever and husband, Kim Simons, Emporia, Kyle Reever and wife, Heather, Olathe, and TJ Reever and wife, Kristi, Overland Park. He is also survived by the grandchildren he loved; Christopher, Jordan, Taylor, Steven, Hannah, Tyra, Aris, Alex, Ethan, Benjamin, Jacob, Marissa, Payton and Delilah. Along with his family and friends, he is also survived by a special friend whom he cherished, Ashton Sparks. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Christopher Dreiling. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays with burial following services in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be Thursday 5:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, Kansas 67601. A parish vigil service will be Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to the Hays Medical Center Endowment Fund.
