Obituary



Sandra Sue Herman, age 83, of Hays, Kansas passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021, in St. Francis. She was born August 6, 1937, in Hays to Lawrence and Minnie (Haneke) Ashbaugh. She married August, "Augie" Herman on May 12, 1956, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis, Kansas. He preceded her in death January 18, 2013.

She was a homemaker and housewife. She had been a member of Ellis Womens Golf Association and Ellis Womens Bowling Association. Sandra took pride in her role as mother and grandmother to her children. She enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. While she was able, she spent time bowling and golfing with her friends. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, painting, reading, crossword puzzles, and zigzag puzzles.

Survivors include her three sons, Timothy, Danny (fianc Sarah Brogden), Galen (Annette), all of Hays, daughters Kimberly Thomason (Michael) of Hays, and Tammy Bracelin (Chris) of St. Francis, KS; one sister Dixie Seibel (Jack) of Peoria IL, two sisters in law, Karen Ashbaugh (Bell) of Ellis, and Karen Ashbaugh (Ptaschek) of Seattle, WA; nine grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Theodore Herman, brothers Darwin Ashbaugh, Dwayne Ashbaugh and Steve Ashbaugh.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Marys cemetery in Ellis, Kansas.
