Sally Lou (Brenton) Frank 71, Hays, died Saturday, April 27th, 2013, at Hays Medical Center. She was born December 4, 1941 in Emporia, KS to Delbert G. and Sally M. (Baker) Brenton. She married Robert F. Frank on September 10th, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays. They were married 44 years before he preceded her in death on August 11th, 2005.
She was a 1973 graduate of Fort Hays State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. Upon graduation she began the art program at Natoma High School, and also taught art in the grade schools in Paradise and Waldo. While she enjoyed teaching there, after 4 years she moved on to Marian High School (which would later consolidate with Thomas More Prep High School to become TMP-Marian High School), Hays, where, in her own words, 'she was privileged to have taught' a multitude of classes, including Drawing, Photography, Architectural Design, Humanities, Advertising, Lettering, Painting, Crafts, Ceramics, Art History, and Psychology. She took great pride in the success of her students. After 26years of teaching at TMP-Marian High School, she retired in 2003. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Michelle McRae, Jennifer Whitmer, Rachel Staab and husband, Craig, all of Hays; a son, William Frank and wife, Amanda, Hays; 16 grandchildren, Courtney Maloney (husband, Shawn), Olathe, Christopher Leiker, Bonnie McRae, John Whitmer (wife, Jennifer), Benjamin Whitmer (wife, Toni), Rebecca Whitmer, Samantha Whitmer, Joseph Whitmer, Richard Whitmer Jr., Abigail Staab, Bethany Staab, Delaney Staab, Jesse Staab, Riley Frank, all of Hays, Dylan Frank, and Wyatt Frank, Great Bend; and two great grandchildren, Shane Maloney, Olathe, and Jason Whitmer, Hays.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Elizabeth, and son-in-law, Richard Whitmer.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1st at St. Joseph Church, Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. with a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine.
