Ross Vern Reeves

Ross Vern Reeves, age 93, of Hays, formerly of Phillipsburg and Hoxie, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at St. John's of Hays. He was born on June 3, 1918 in Oberlin, KS. to Dr. Arthur and Flora (Wilderman) Reeves. He married Margaret Naomi Geil on May 30, 1946 in Almena, KS.



Ross worked in retail business and insurance and financial planning. He had been a member of the Phillipsburg and Hoxie United Methodist churches, American Legion and Masonic Lodge in Hoxie, Phillipsburg, and Almena. He was a former Silver Haired Legislator.



Ross is survived by two daughters, Catherine Ann Reeves of Hays and Sue Reeves Schmidt and husband Steve of Idaho falls, ID; a sister, Alice Kuiper of Norton; two grandchildren, Matthew Reeves and Leah Schmidt and a great-grandchild, Taylen Morgan Reeves.



He was preceded in death by infant daughter Suzanne Rae; his wife, Margaret; his parents, Arthur and Flora; twin sister, Lois Schamber; and brother, Neil Reeves.



Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Dog Press, Almena, KS or Hospice at Hays Medical Center.
