Rick Hernandez

Ricky "Rick" Hernandez, age 35, of Ellis passed away Tuesday, June 14th in Rush County, Kansas. He was born on August 30, 1975 in WaKeeney, Kansas to Phillip Hernandez and Carol Stelter. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1995. On June 2, 2001 he married Amber Keller in Ellis, Kansas at St. Mary's Catholic Church.Rick was working as a Machine Operator for Stewart Well Service of Hays. Rick enjoyed doing Handyman work, fishing with daddy's girls and helping with whatever sports or activities his girls participated in. He enjoyed riding his mother-in-laws Harley with Amber, watching Stock Car Races, and grilling on his Traeger. Rick was a great daddy and husband and a second dad to all of his nieces and nephews.He is survived by his wife, Amber of Ellis; two daughters, Kaylee and Kloee Hernandez of Ellis; father and step mother, Philip and Romanita Hernandez; his mother, Carol Stelter of Wichita; a brother, Marty Hernandez and wife Kim of Beloit; a sister, Amanda Hernandez of Wichita; a grandmother, Lenora Stelter of Plainville; five uncles, Alvarito Hernandez and Leonor Hernandez of Mexico, Nicolara Hernandez of Hays, Martin Hernandez of Ellis and Jose Hernandez of Great Bend; two aunts, Pamela Luna of Plainville and Kim Weber of Ellis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Stelter, father-in-law, Wendell Keller and an uncle, Randy Ehrlich.Funeral services will be 11:30 am Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.Visitation will be Friday 5 pm - 8 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis with a parish vigil service at 7 pm.
