Richard A. "Rick" Bollig, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, businessman and friend, age 62, of Hays, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015. He was born on September 21, 1952 in Hays, Kansas to Robert J. "Cap" and Mildred Louise "Millie" (Dreiling) Bollig. He married Jacqueline "Jackie" (Niernberger) Bollig on February 1, 1975 at St. Josephs Catholic Church.
He graduated from St. Josephs Military Academy in 1971. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Mens VFW Auxiliary. Rick followed in his fathers footsteps, owning and working at Oldham Sales, Inc. since 1975. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church. He was larger than life and loved spending time with his friends, family and customers. Rick was an avid sports fan and loved Notre Dame football. He enjoyed music and could often be found sitting outside listening to his favorite album of the moment.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by his son Benjamin "Ben" Leo Bollig of Denver; daughter Katherine "Katie" Anne Zogleman, son-in-law Chad Eric Zogleman and two grandsons Wyatt Leo Zogleman and Brody Charles Zogleman of Belton, Missouri; brother, Michael Bollig of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; sister-in-law, Connie Bollig of Hays; brother-in-law and sister-in law Nick and Pauletta Niernberger of Hays; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Greg "Skeeter" and Sue Niernberger of Hays; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim "J.B." and Kay Brandt of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Danny and Mary Ann Ross of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Steph Niernberger of Hays; and 14 nieces and 8 nephews.
His parents and brothers, Robert J. "Bob" Bollig, Jr. and Thomas Lee "T-Bone" Bollig preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors courtesy of the Hays VFW.
Visitation will be Sunday 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Monday 1 PM 2 PM at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
A parish vigil service will be Sunday at 7:30 PM at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Family or TMP-Marian and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
