Ralph "Whitie" Koerner

Ralph "Whitie" Koerner, age 90, of Hays, died Monday, July 23, 2012 at Via Christi Village, Hays. He was born March 22, 1922 in Hays, KS to John A. and Josephine (Leiker) Koerner. He graduated in 1940 from Hays High School. He married Louise Staab on Feb. 23, 1943 in Catharine, KS.

He was truck driver for Graves Truck line for 42 years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Royals, doing yard work and being the family caretaker.

He is survived by his wife, Louise of Hays; two sons, Richard Koerner and wife Jody of Topeka, KS and David Koerner and wife Judy of Lees Summit, MO; a daughter, Ann Koerner and husband Rich Camp of Plymouth, MN; a brother, Donald "Pete" Koerner of Arvada, CO; a sister, Flora Mae "Mates" Swim of Colorado Springs, CO. 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Thomas and Herbert Koerner and a sister, Mildred Maska.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM 8 PM and Thursday 9 AM 9:30 AM at Brocks North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.

There will be a rosary service Wednesday at 6:30 PM followed by a parish vigil at 7 PM all at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to TMP-Marian High School and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
