Ralph W. Honas

Ralph William Honas, age 86, of Ellis, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. He was born December 20, 1926 in Ransom, Kansas to John and Frances (Weber) Honas. He married Julia Ann Younker on August 30, 1949 at St. Marys Church in Ellis. Ralph had worked as a painting contractor, railroader, oilfield worker and an elevator operator at Golden Belt Co-Op. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the Ellis 4th degree Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Julia of Ellis; children, Jim and Lauree Honas, Doris and Ed Collins, Susan Eaton, Bernice and Mark Karlin, all of Ellis; Alice and Rand Long, Falls Church, VA; Robert and Debbie Honas, Newton; Kenneth and Christine Honas, Christopher and Lori Honas, all of Wichita; Rosemarie and Richard Duncan, Ellis; and Janice Aschenbrenner, Wichita; siblings, Helen Wiesner and Marcella Wiesner of Billings, MT; Laurene Evans, St Mary, Georgia; Stella Schoenberger, Aurora, CO; and Norbert Honas, Ellis. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.





He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Ralph, Jr., Patricia, and Richard; siblings, Katherine Gnad, John Honas, Jr., Herman Honas and Mary Wiesner.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and Thursday 9:00 A.M. 9:45 A.M. all at St. Marys Church in Ellis.

A 4th degree Knights of Columbus rosary will be Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. followed by a parish vigil at 8:00 P.M. all at the church.
