Pat Rigby

Kenneth Leroy "Pat" Rigby, age 87, of Hays passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Hays Medical Center. He was born June 30, 1925 in Waldo, Kansas to Harry and Lydia "Merle" (Bealby) Rigby. He married Margaret "Paula" Walter September 29, 1973 in Hays, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 11, 2012.

Pat spent his working career in the oilfields primarily as a pumper. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He was awarded a Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Battle Stars and 1 Bronze Star. He was a member of the Hays VFW Post 9076 and the Hays American Legion. He regularly participated on the Honor Guard for veterans funerals. His family was his passion. Taking care of others earned him much respect and deserved title of "Uncle Pat" to many.

Survivors include a son, Leon Rigby and wife Karen of Berryton, KS; three daughters, Connie Davis and husband Tom of Soldotna, Alaska, Connie Winters and husband Alan of Topeka and Cathy Rigby of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by a special niece and nephew who was raised by Pat and Paula, Christina Walter and Marc Younger and wife Janell all of Hays; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Olis "Ray" Rigby; a brother, Harold "Mike" Rigby and four sisters, Mary 'Gladys' Tyler, Reva Beck, Louise Rigby and Winifred "Winnie" Davis.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday at Brocks North Hill Chapel-2509 Vine-Hays, KS. 67601. Interment will be in Ft. Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors by the Hays VFW.

Visitation will be Sunday 4 PM 8 PM and Monday 9:30 AM until service time all at the funeral home.
