Nicole Michelle Courtney

Nicole "Niki" Michelle Courtney, born on July 19, 1978, in Hays, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023. She was the daughter of Larry Rupp and Shiela Santee Rupp. Niki's journey through life was marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family.

Niki's educational journey led her to Hays High School, where she laid the foundation for a future that would be marked by both intellectual and caring pursuits. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Southwestern Oklahoma State, a testament to her commitment to helping others through her work as a dedicated registered nurse.

Niki's career took her on a path of service and adventure as a traveling nurse, bringing her healing touch and empathy to those in need across different corners of the country. Her patients and colleagues alike benefited from her skill and her kindness.

Outside of her profession, Niki found joy in various pursuits. She had a creative spirit and a love for diamond art, which allowed her to express her artistic side. She also cherished the great outdoors, where she enjoyed various activities, likely feeling closest to nature in those moments. Animals held a special place in her heart, and she found comfort in the company of her furry friends.

Niki had a passion for movies and TV shows, finding solace and entertainment in the stories that unfolded on the screen. However, above all else, her family held the most significant place in her heart. Her time spent with her daughters, Hailey and Leanda, and her cherished grandchildren, Aria, Kortez, Zayden, and Frayah, was of utmost importance to her. Niki's family was her anchor, and her love for them knew no bounds.

She is survived by her loving father, Larry Rupp of Hays; her devoted mother, Shiela Rupp of Ellis; her adoring daughters, Hailey (Jason) Woodruff of Hays and Leanda Briscoe of Oklahoma City; her caring brother, Dylan Rupp of Hays; her precious grandchildren; her grandmother, Carolyn Rupp of Hays; and her former husband and father of Hailey and Leanda, Kevin Courtney. She is also remembered by her stepsons, Brent (Marilyn) Courtney and Chase Courtney of Oklahoma City, as well as her in-laws, Elwilda and Mervyn Courtney.

Niki was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert Rupp and Milt and Ruth Ann (Swander) Santee.

No formal services will be held, and cremation has taken place.

In her memory, memorial contributions are suggested payable to High Plains Mental Health Center in Hays, and these may be sent in care of Keithley Funeral Homes, PO Box 86, Hays, KS 67601.
