Nathan Carl Emmons

Nathan Carl Emmons – age 44, of Colby, Kansas passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Hays Medical Center after an extended illness. Nathan was born September 1, 1978, in Colby, Kansas the son of Joseph W. Emmons and Marsha (Den) Berens.

He grew up in Colby, Lawrence, and Wasilla, Alaska. He graduated in 1997 from Colony High School in Wasilla, Alaska.

Nathan loved to travel, meet people, and explore new foods and taste sensations. He was quick to make friends, family, and even strangers laugh. Nathan enjoyed watching college and professional sports. He also loved movies of all kinds, but especially science-fiction, noir, and horror. Nathan was not afraid of hard work, and worked mainly in maintenance, construction, and landscaping.

Nathan is survived by his mother, Marsha Berens, Colby, KS; his father and stepmother, Joseph and Trish Emmons, Taos, NM; his stepsister, Erin Shaw (Jason), Decorah, IA; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Nathan was predeceased by his grandparents; Perry and Esther Emmons; and Ralph and Helen Den; his brother, Justin; and stepfather, Gary Berens.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorials made payable to: Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the mortuary.
