Myrna Mccoy

Myrna Margaret McCoy, age 71, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Hays Medical Center. She was born September 19, 1945 in Fargo, North Dakota to Lorenz and Margaret (Christie) Scherweit. She married Larry McCoy June 24, 1967 in Golden, Colorado. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Myrna was a homemaker and enjoyed yardwork, sewing, quilting, traveling, Ellis Railroader sports and being with family and friends. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis.

She is survived by a son, Casey McCoy and wife Melanie of Ellis; two daughters, Sharley Benham of Hays and Shannon Smiles and husband Chris of Wilmington, North Carolina; three sisters, Trudie Dillon of Colorado, Bonnie Kirchner of Minnesota and Pam Mouchka of Iowa; six grandchildren, Cadyn, Myah and Colt McCoy, Madalyn and Blaze Benham and Coby Smiles as well as numerous sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charlie Scherweit.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Mary's Church in Ellis. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.

Visitation will be Sunday 6 PM - 8 PM at St. Mary's Church. Arrangements in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel of Ellis.
