Mildred Mae Giebler, a beloved figure in her family and community, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024 at Via Christi Assisted Living. She was born on June 24, 1929, in Colyer, Kansas to Fred and Catherine (Fisher) Brungardt.
While raising her family with Clarence, Mildred worked outside the home. Her work life included fifteen plus years with Travenol as well as helping various people in their homes. In addition, Mildred enjoyed a rich personal life filled with hobbies and interests that included cooking, playing cards, board games, and watching TV game shows. She had a passion for traveling to visit her children and an affinity for gardening, which brought her immense joy. Additionally, Mildred was an avid fan of the Royals, the Jayhawks and the Chiefs, always cheering them on with enthusiasm. Her family and faith were of paramount importance to her, and she nurtured those bonds throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Clarence Giebler Jr. (Kelly Fresquez) of Kansas City, MO, and her daughters, Sharon Martinez (Leo) of Oakland, CA, Karen Pfeifer (Rick) of St. Louis, MO, and Jolene Piper (Dave) of Topeka, KS. Mildred is also survived by her brothers, Fred Brungardt Jr. of Olathe, KS, and Norbert Brungardt of Tulsa, OK. A proud grandmother, she cherished each moment with her grandchildren: Sarah, Jennifer, Ross (Hannah), Elizabeth (Jordan), Matthew, Katherine (Terry), Megan (Caleb), Nicole, and Bryce (Kristen), and her great-grandchildren: Grant, Ben, Luke, Hailey, Michael, Reagan, Jaxson and 3 babies soon to be born of which one will be named Millie Mae. Additionally, she is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, (Clarence), and fourteen of her 16 siblings.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strong family values that will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on September 14, 2024, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas, beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM and Saturday 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock's Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
A VFW Auxiliary service will be Friday at 6:45 PM followed by a combined parish vigil and rosary service at 7:00 PM all at Brock's Chapel.
