Michael Dean Graf, 59 died Thursday May 28, 2015 at his home in Hays, KS. He was born June 13, 1955 in Great Bend, KS to Edwin & Armella "Millie" (Stegman) Graf. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1973 and attended Fort Hays State University He married Robbie (Weatherbee) Dreiling on August 31, 1991.
He was the Director of Ellis County Public Works for over 22 years. He was a member of National Association of County Engineers, Associated with Kansas County Highway Road Scholars, and was past President of Kansas County Highway Association, and elected the Kansas Highway Official of the Year in 2011, Certified Public Manager, past board member of United Way of Ellis County, 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council # 6984, and a Relay for Life Team Leader. Mike was an avid sports fan with a strong following for Kansas University and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike held a special place for his grandsons, Toby, Eli and Dez along with the ever special Bella.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; 2 daughters, Kendra Dreiling, Hays, KS and Kristie May and husband Trevor; 3 grandsons (Toby, Eli & Dez May) of Hays, KS. A sister, Janice Burkhead and husband Lee of Kansas City, Mo. Three brothers, Jim Graf and wife Kathy of Hutchinson, KS; Tom Graf and wife Shyrlene of Fort Collins, CO; and David Graf and wife Julie of Dallas, TX; and brothers-in-law Steve Bogart (Norma), Gary Weatherbee and wife Deb of Hays, KS; sisters-in-law Kathy Johnson and husband Robert and Vicky Thompson and husband Bob, both of Enid, OK; along with 17 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister Norma Bogart.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Hays.
Visitation will be Sunday 4 PM 8 PM and Monday 10 AM 10:30 AM all at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel & Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.
A Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be Sunday at 6:30 PM followed by a parish vigil service at 7:00 PM all at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County or the Humane Society of The High Plains and may be sent in care of the funeral chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family by guest book at www.keithleyfuneralchapels.com or emailed to keithley@ruraltel.net
