Maxwell Luedtke, age 85, of Hays, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at Via Christi Village, Hays. He was born March 2, 1927 in Weehawken, New Jersey to Maximilan and Lina (Brecht) Luedtke. He married Jackie Stebbins on January 4, 1969 in Shandaken, New York.
Max was an auto parts salesman for Detroit Supply Co. in New York, co-owner and a licensed contractor at Deerfield Homes Inc. and he retired from Fort Hays State University where he was a maintenance carpenter from 1981 1992. Max enjoyed riding his motorcycle, reading, woodworking, running and he was an avid pet lover. He was also a lifetime member of the Kingston New York Masons Lodge #10.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie of Hays; a daughter, Brooklynn Ann Welden of Portville, New York; two grandsons, Paul Hockhousen of Rochester, New York and Evan Hockhousen and wife Natalie of Portville, New York; two great grandchildren, Landen and Paige Hockhousen both of Portville, New York and a niece, Jennifer Shepherd of Stockton, New Jersey.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Brocks North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis, KS.
Visitation will be Wednesday 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of the High Plains or Hospice at Hays Medical Center.
