Obituary



Mary Hart-Detrixhe, age 57, of Hays, Kansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in Hays. She was born March 27, 1961 in Salina, Kansas to Harold E. and Margaret M. (Brungardt) Hart.

She graduated from Victoria High School in 1979 and from Fort Hays State University with a B.S. in English. She married her husband, Stan, on September 4, 1987.

Mary had a life-long love of cooking and baking which she shared with others through various jobs, most recently as the kitchen manager of the Hays Area Childrens Center. She also worked at the Hays Public Library as the Public Relations Coordinator and was a regular contributor to the Hays Daily News.

She was most influential in the lives of her grandchildren, who she loved dearly.

She is survived by her husband, Stan Detrixhe of Hays; a son, Tim Detrixhe and his wife Olga and son Thomas all of Hays; a daughter, Emma Detrixhe and daughter Adalie of Manhattan; two brothers, Jim Hart and wife Elizabeth of Wichita and Don Hart and wife Lindsay of Lenexa; a sister, Trece Hart of Parkville, MO, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, J. Sebastian Hart.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2018 at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hays Area Childrens Center or the Hays Public Library.
