Marvin "Shorty" Wagner

Marvin J."Shorty" Wagner, 89, Hays died Friday, March 15, 2013. He was living with his son, Jerry at the time of his death. He was born, October 23, 1923 in Victoria on the farm to Anton G. Wagner and Catherine (Hammerschmidt) Wagner. He married RoseMary Molleker on March 30, 1948 in Hyacinth. She preceded him in death on April 30,1988.

He worked in the oil field prior to becoming co-owner of M & W Tank Co., Hays, Ks., until he retired at 62 in 1985. Marvin was a member of St. Josephs Church, Hays, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He served his country in WWII in the Pacific as a paratrooper. His favorite past times were family, church, fishing, bingo. These made his days complete.

Survivors include, two sons, Gerald (Jerry) Wagner and wife Vickie, Hays; Terry Wagner and wife, Shirley, Battlefield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Nealee Johnston and husband Brian, Hesston, Ks.; Tylar Wagner and wife, Ashley, Wichita, Ks.; Eian Wagner and Kellie Combs Stanley; Evan Wagner, all of Hays; and Erin Wagner and fiance, Nathan Baczkowski, Prairie Village, Ks.; six great grandchildren; Brynn and Carson Johnston, Hesston; Alyssa, Preston, and Emilia Wagner, Wichita; and Emmie Wagner, Hays.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Art, Rich, Paul, Marcellus, Ralph, and Don; three sisters, Laura, Leona, and Lila.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Josephs Church, Hays, with Father Earl Befort officiating. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Monday from 9a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Brocks Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.

There will be a parish vigil service Sunday at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral chapel.

Memorials suggested by the family are Masses or St. Josephs Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
