Marvin N. Klaus, age 88, of Hays, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Via Christi Village Care Center Hays, Kansas. He was born July 29, 1928, on the family farm at Antonino, Kansas to Nick and Philomena (Rohr) Klaus. He married Mary Frances (Baier) on May 9, 1950 at Vincent, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2006.

He was a farmer and worked over 35 years for Ellis County Road and Bridge Department. He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and moved to Hays from the farm in 1990. He enjoyed his farming and cattle, playing cards, spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include, three sons, Don Klaus and wife, Debbie, Hays, KS; Jerry Klaus and wife, Wanda, Victoria, KS; Ernie Klaus and wife, Linette, Hays, KS; five daughters, Roseann Johnson and husband, Dave, Mulvane, KS; Linda Dinkel and husband, George, Mulvane, KS; Mary Lou Martin and husband, Dr. Anthony, Wichita, KS; Bernice Hammerschmidt and husband, Mark, Hays, KS; Lois Searle and husband, Jeff, Wichita, KS; 22 grandchildren, Rebecca Schmidt, David Klaus (Jen), Jenny Montgomery, Wendy Eckhart (Kyle), Michael Johnson (Monica), Randy Johnson (Brittani), Troy Johnson (Erin), Andrea Johnson, Stacey York (Chris), Chris Klaus, Tyler Klaus (Kayla), Julie Cott (Tyler), Father Brian Dinkel, IVE, Sister Annunciation Michelle Dinkel, Jana Tubbs (Robert), Kerri Berner (Brian),Kendra Bailey (Chuck), Jill Dinkel (Danny), Ryan Hammerschmidt and Nicole Witt, Kyle Hammerschmidt and Amy Reiger, Matthew Searle, Brandon Searle (Natalie); 29 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Klaus and wife, Irma, Mulvane, KS; one sister, Wilma Braun, Hays, KS; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Klaus-Leiker and husband, Alex, Hays, KS; Laura Klaus, Hays, KS; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Robert Klaus, Norman Klaus, Edwin Klaus; two sisters, Edna Klaus, Mary Ellen Klaus, and one brother-in-law, Gerald Braun.

Services are at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church Hays, Kansas. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery Hays, Kansas.

A vigil service is at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, at Cline's-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.

Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, at Cline's-Keithley Mortuary of Hays and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church 2901 East 13th Street Hays, Kansas.

Memorials to St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church or Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.
