Obituary
Marjorie Boeckner, age 90, of Hays, Kansas died January 10, 2023, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born November 7, 1932, to Mike Loreg and Eva (Cline) Loreg in Codell, Kansas.
She graduated Plainville High School, and later married Dean Boeckner in Newton, Kansas.
Marjorie had a passion for caring for kids of all ages. She enjoyed big family meals and getting together brought her the most joy. She was a parent of her own children, as well as a foster parent for 20 years, taking care of a total of 184 kids, and adopting four. She had also worked at the Hillcrest Cemetery as a bookkeeper in Great Bend and was president of the Paradise Center Cemetery Board.
She is survived by her children, Avea Mahan, Roeland, Park, KS: Daniel Boeckner, Hays, KS; Dean Boeckner, Jr, Hays, KS: Tammie (David) Acheson, Palco, KS; Tanya Boeckner, Hays, KS; and Jessica Boeckner, Hays, KS; sister LaDonna, Wichita, KS; brothers Mike, Hoisington, KS; Dean (Janice), Topeka, KS; and Darrell, (Janice) Clinton, MO; eight grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Boeckner, daughter, Thea; her parents, and siblings, Helen, Kathrine, Melvin, Della Mae, Loree, Keith, Dorothy, Joseph and a grandson, Travis Mahan.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street Hays, Kansas 67601. Viewing and visitation will be 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday prior to services at the Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow the services in the Paradise Center Cemetery - Rooks County. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Kansas Special Olympics in care of the Funeral Chapel.
