Marguerite Black

Marguerite L. Black, 86, Hays, formerly of Rexford, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Hays Medical Center after a battle with cancer. She was born November 25, 1925 near Selden, Kansas to Elsie (Kober) and Joseph Maddock.



She married Harvey Jack May Jr. in 1946. They had one son, Randall Lynn May. She later married Andrew John "Andy" Black in Tucumcari, New Mexico. They had two children, John Alan Black and Julie Black. They made their home in Rexford.



She graduated from high school in Rexford. She worked at the Golden Plains High School and also the Rexford Cafe. She moved to Hays in 2008, living at Epworth Towers, and then most recently, Good Samaritan Society, Hays. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, thrift shops, writing letters and socializing.



Survivors include three children, Randall May and wife Cheryl of Plano, TX, John Black and Julie Black of Hays; four grandchildren, Adam and Mandy May of Acton, Massachusetts, Amy (May) Ploutz and husband John of Chesterfield, Missouri, Jamie Zerr and wife Janae (Glidewell) of Oak Grove, Kentucky and Jeff Zerr of Hays.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Black on February 4, 2009.



Memorial services will be at a later date at the Rexford Community Church. Arrangements in care of Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.





Memorial Services will be Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rexford Community Church, Rexford, Kansas. Inurnment will be in the Rexford Cemetery.



Memorials are suggested to Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Center, Hays Medical Center Hospice, or donor's choice and may be sent in care of Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
