Maevis Chapman

Maevis (Bangert) Chapman, age 81, of Hoxie, passed away Saturday, March 12th at the Sheridan County Health Complex Long Term Care Unit in Hoxie where she had resided since 1984. She was born on August 27, 1929 in Albert Lea, MN. to Fred and Martha (Schmidt) Bangert. She married Lester Chapman on September 21, 1953 in Denver. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2011.Maevis graduated from Alden high School and Naeve Hospital School of Nursing. She worked many years in several states as a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed arts, crafts, sewing, quilting and reading.Maevis is survived by a son, Kris Chapman and wife Doris of Lyons, CO; three daughters, Sheryl Taylor and husband David of Hoxie, Shelley Pruett and husband Tom of Colby and Sheila Fenno and husband George of Brooksville, FL; a brother, Melvin Bangert and wife Peggy of Missouri; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Chapman, her parents, 7 brothers and 4 sisters.Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 12th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hoxie. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.Memorials are suggested to the church or donor's choice.
