Luella Augustine

Hays, Kansas - Luella M. Augustine, age, 77, died Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born August 5, 1940, on the farm east of Munjor, Kansas, to Melchior and Cecilia (Unrein) Gabel. She married Robert L. Augustine on September 5, 1959 at Munjor, Kansas.

She worked at Fort Hays State University for 30 years. Luella was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a 1958 graduate of Girls Catholic High both of Hays, Kansas. Being crafty she enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and counted cross stitch. She especially enjoyed celebrating Christmas and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Augustine, of the home; one son, Kevin Augustine and wife, Donna, Hays, KS; one daughter, Karla Harrison and husband, John, Point of Rocks, MD; three brothers, Harold Gabel and Ernest Gabel, both of Dodge City, KS; Gene Gabel and wife, Rita, Hays, KS; one sister, Norma Huser, Vincent, KS; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gabel, Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, Schuyler Augustine, Katelyn and Jennifer Harrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Gabel and one sister, Mildred Linenberger.

Services are 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas. Inurnment will be at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Munjor, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas with a rosary service at 9:40 A.M. Tuesday at the church.

The family suggest memorial to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
