Lucille Flax

Lucille (Dreiling) Flax, age 94, formerly of Ellis, Kansas, died January 7, 2018 at the Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman, Kansas. Lucille was born on September 4, 1923 in Ellis the daughter of Mike and Rosa (Leiker) Dreiling. She married Fred Flax on August 8, 1944 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis. He preceded her in death March 2, 1984.

Lucille was a homemaker and farmwife. She was an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church and St. Marys School where she served on the school board and the Home and School Association. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Jeopardy, playing pinochle, she was a New York Yankees fan and enjoyed the Kansas City Royals. Lucille was very fond of her granddaughters who all had a special relationship with her.

Lucille is survived by her daughter Paula Dinkel and husband Allen of Junction City; three granddaughters, Emily Gibson and husband Jason of Canton, Wendy Dinkel and husband Ryan Conrade of Lindsborg, and Macey Dinkel of Stafford; four great-granddaughters, Delaney, Dakota, and Daylen Gibson and Brenna Conrade; one great-grandson Kellen Conrade; one brother, Paul Dreiling of Ellis and two sisters, Clementine Marie Kuhn of Hays and Henrietta Herl of Ashland.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred; her parents; a daughter, Rosabel Flax; a brother Arthur J. Dreiling and a sister Freda Weber.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday 6 PM - 8 PM and Friday 9 AM - 9:30 AM all at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E 17th Ellis, KS 67637.

A combined rosary and vigil service will be 7 PM Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to St. Marys School or Chapman Valley Manor.
