Lucas Romey

Lucas "Pops", J. Romey 78, Hays, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society, Ellis. He was born September 3, 1933, in Ellis to Anton and Marcella (Copp) Romey. He grew up in Ellis and attended Ellis High School. He married Ida Montgomery in 1955 in Ellis.



He was a retired oilfield worker employed at Sun Oilfield Cementing and numerous Drilling Contractors. Pops was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening, watching football, cards, family dinners (German Food) and loved to watch westerns.



Survivors include two sisters Mary and Leon Wolf Hays Ks, Vickie and　Alphonse Weber Ellis Ks, five sons, Kevin　Romey and wife Karla Scott, La, Chuck Romey Hays Ks, Terry Romey and Linda Terrell "farm lady" Norton Ks, Alvin Romey and Lori Ayers Hays, Ks, David Romey and Michela Werth, Phoenix, Az, one daughter Debbie Brassfield and husband Allen Hays Ks, twelve grandchildren, Kyle Romey, Amanda Oliver, Jake Romey, Audra Romey, Anna Romey, Spencer Romey, Seth Romey, James Brassfield, Natasha Bender, Katie Brassfield, Sara Kriley and husband Bob, Melanie Romey, Jennifer Lindsay and husband Jed, ten great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Robert and Kenny, two sons Bruce and Randy.



　



Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.



Visitation will be Friday 4 to 8 PM and Saturday 9:00 - 9:30 A.M. all at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 East 17th, Ellis, KS 67637.



There will be a parish vigil service Friday at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary service at 6:30 PM. at the funeral home.
