Loren Gugler

Loren Arthur Gugler, age 84, of Ellis, passed away July 26, 2012 at the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney. He was born on March 6, 1928 in Hays, KS to Ralph and Anna (Lishen) Gugler. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1946. He married Phyllis Meyer on February 12, 1955 in Chicago.



He was a US Army veteran serving in Japan. He had been a clerk for Union Pacific Railroad and an Ellis mail carrier retiring in 1983 to start farming full time. He was a member of Ellis United Methodist Church, Ellis VFW where he was a past commander, American Legion of Hays, past board member of Ellis School Board,, Ellis Credit Union, Golden Belt CO-OP and the YMCA.



He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Ellis; two sons, David Gugler of Hays and Doug Gugler and wife Ann of Ellis; two grandsons, Scott Gugler of Hays and Tanner Gugler of Ellis; and a sister, Linda Headstream of Centennial, CO.



He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Marcy Gugler; a grandson, Anthony Gugler; a brother, Harold Gugler and a sister, Lois Ann Gaschler.



Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Ellis United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors by the Ellis VFW.



Visitation will be Sunday 3 PM - 6 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637 and Monday 9 AM until service time at the church.



Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ellis United Methodist Church or Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital.
