Linus Miller

Linus Jacob Miller, age 87, of Hays passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Cypress Springs Alzheimers Care Center in Wichita. He was born July 22, 1925 in Hays, KS. to A.R. and Seraphine (Ruder) Miller. He graduated from Hays High in 1944. He married Laurinda Pfannestiel January 31, 1951 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays.

Linus was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII. During his working career with Service pipeline company as a diesel mechanic then went to work in the maintenance departments at St. Joseph Military Academy and the Hays Post Office. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Sunflower Chapter of Volga Germans and the Hays VFW Post 9076.

He is survived by his wife, Laurinda of Hays; a son, Ronald Miller and wife Debbie of Wichita; two daughters, Tomme Lynn Williams of Hays and Sue Carey and husband Paul of Hutchinson; a brother, Wayne Miller and wife Wanda of Hays; two sisters, Sylvia Edwards and husband Bert of Hays and Patty Schmidtberger and husband Robert of Victoria. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kevin Miller, Tiffany Miller, Geoffrey Miller, Jenna Miller, Jason Carey and wife Becca and Alison Carey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Donald and Harlan; two sisters, Alice McCord and Inez Mai and a son-in-law, Bobby Ray Williams.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by the Hays VFW Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Friday 4:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. and Saturday 9:00 A.M. 9:30 A.M. all at Brocks North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

A parish vigil service will be 6:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice of Wichita or IHMC Forward to Faith Fund.
