Lester D. Henrickson

Lester Dwane Henrickson, age 62, of Hays, Passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, KS. He was born December 18, 1953 in Hays, KS to Jacob "Jakie" and Freda (King) Henrickson. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1972. On June 14, 1980 he married Susan Vinduska in Pilsen, KS.

Lester was a farmer and former owner operator of the Ellis Door Shop which he ran for 20 plus years. He had recently worked at Wal-Mart for 9 years. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis and the Ellis Knights of Columbus. He also attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. While living in Ellis he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and an active community volunteer for Ellis. He enjoyed collecting antiques and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Hays; two sons, Jason Henrickson of Hays and Justin Henrickson of Ellis; a daughter, Jenna Alvarez and husband Robert of Hays; two grandchildren, Eli and Collin Alvarez of Hays and two sisters, Mary Befort and husband Dale of Victoria and Ann Miller and husband Tim, of WaKeeney.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis with inurnment to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Visitation will be Friday 6 PM - 8 PM with a combined Ellis Knights of Columbus rosary and parish vigil service at 7 PM all at St. Mary's Church in Ellis.

Arrangements in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel of Ellis.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Marys School.
