Leon Edward Rigby, 69, formerly of Hays, died at his home in Topeka, KS Monday, July 21. He was born March 18, 1945 to Kenneth "Pat" and Paula (Walter) Rigby and was raised in the Hays area. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. Leon spent the majority of his working career in lumber and building materials and later owned his own mowing service. Leon enjoyed trout fishing in the Missouri Ozarks and bird hunting in western Kansas.
Survivors include wife, Karen Rigby of Topeka, KS; two sons, Craig Rigby and wife Leslie, grandson Jack of Fort Worth, TX and Patrick Rigby and wife Dana, grandson Tate and granddaughter Greenlee of Kirksville, MO; three sisters, Connie Davis and husband Tom of Soldotna, Alaska, Connie Winters and husband Alan of Topeka and Cathy Rigby of Oklahoma City, OK.,
He was preceded in death by his first wife JoLynn, his parents Kenneth and Paula Rigby, mother Juanita VanPool and a brother Olis "Ray" Rigby.
Celebration of Life will be held at at Brock's North Hill Chapel-2509 Vine-Hays, KS July25th at 11:00 am followed by a lunch reception at the Hays VFW hall at 2106 Vine Street.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hays VFW Post 9076 or Donor's Choice.
