Lawrence (Larry) R. Norton was born April 4, 1936 to Edward and Goldie (Blackwill) Norton on a farm south of Quinter, Kansas. He passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Hays Kansas. He was 85.

He graduated from Park High School in 1955. He was a U.S. Veteran and served in the U.S. Army. On August 8, 1959, Larry married Bernita Waldman at St. Michael Catholic Church in Collyer, Kansas. They later divorced.

Larry spent most of his life farming with his parents, raised livestock and worked for various feed and seed companies. He also had two home based businesses of hoof trimming for horses and show cattle and the Norton Auction Service. Larry enjoyed traveling, watching and attending rodeos. He was an avid sports fan of the KC Chiefs, Royals, KU basketball and K-state football and basketball. Larry especially loved following his grandchildrens sporting events through the years. His most treasured time was spent celebrating holidays and special events with family and friends.

Survivors include his five daughters, Christy Gillogly and husband Tim of Hays, Kansas, Carrie Barr and husband Frank of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kelly Shuagis and husband Steve of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, Karla Simons and husband Russ of Wichita, Kansas and Cody Kandt and husband Larry of Morganville, Kansas. His sisters, Marcella Rohleder and husband Frank of Thorton, Colorado, Louella Sullivan of Lakewood, Colorado, Armella Wetig and husband Jim of Russell, Kansas and Verdella Lewis and husband Leon of Wichita, Kansas, brother-in-law, Bill Campbell of Ridgeville, Ohio. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Chelsey (Aaron) Ladd, Kylea Gillogly of Hays, Kansas, Kacey (Paul) Bowen, of Hendersonville Tennessee, Colin (Megan) Barr of Mission, Kansas, Ethan Shuagis, Jaxon Shuagis of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, Kennedy (Luke) Rogers of Wichita, Kansas, Kerrigan (Dante) Texeira of Wichita Kansas, Braiton Gassmann (girlfriend Jesslyn) of Hutchinson, Kansas, Brogan Kandt, Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, Breckon Kandt of Salina, Kansas. In addition, Larry enjoyed four precious great grandchildren, Theodore Ladd, Audren Bowen, Simon and Penelope Rogers. He leaves behind his special companion Linda Schneider of Hill City, Kansas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death was an infant daughter Mary Jean Norton, former spouse Bernita Norton, his parents Edward and Goldie Norton, sister Rosella Campbell, brother Leo Norton, brother-in laws Ralph Scheck and Jim Sullivan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church - Park, KS. A Rosary Service will begin at 9:30 AM prior to Mass. Inurnment will follow the Mass in the St Michael's Catholic Cemetery - Collyer, KS at 1:00 PM.
