Kenneth Savage

Kenneth Martin "Kenny" Savage, 84, Hays, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at his home. He was born December 22, 1929 in Bixby OK to Martin and Olive (Cook) Savage. He was a graduate of Russell High School. He married Helen Withrow on Sept. 23, 1950. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before she preceded him in death May 23, 2001. He later married Yvonne (Hannah-Emerson) on June 8, 2002. They shared 12 years together.



During his life, he worked in the oil business, later purchasing Central Chemical Co., from which he retired. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hays, Veterans of Foreign Wars, past master of Hays Masonic Lodge No. 195, past High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of Kansas, past Celestial Master of Cryptic Masons of Kansas, Aleppo Commandery No. 31, prior of Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar High Priest, KTYCH-Knights Templar Cross of Honor, York Rite College and Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, watching sports and family activities.



Survivors include his wife, of the home; four daughters, Debra Schreck (Tom) of Victoria, Kathy Savage of Wilson, Sheila Karlin (Larry) of Garden City, and Lesly Rupp of Hays; two stepdaughters, Sherry Stroh (Dave) of Goddard, and Lisa Arnhold of Hays; six grandchildren, Matt Schreck (Lisa) of Hays, Tanner Schreck (Kim) of Grand Junction CO, Rachel Karlin of Garden City, Kelli Parr (Kevin) of Savannah, GA, Addie Rupp of Denton, TX, and Kiley Rupp of Hays; three great-grandchildren, Hayden and Macy Schaffer of Garden City, and McKinnley Rupp of Denton, TX; four step great-grandchildren, Megan Zeman of Hays, Andrew Stroh (Melissa) of Kiowa, KS, Rochelle Stroh of Wichita and Erika Arnhold of Hays as well as numerous relatives and friends.



He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Karl Savage; and a sister, Geraldene Driscoll.



Services will be at 10 AM Friday at Brock's Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. Military Honors courtesy of the Hays VFW.



Visitation will be Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 6:30 PM all at the funeral home.
