Kenneth Metzler

Kenneth Ross Metzler, 71, Ellis, died April 5, 2013, at Hays Medical Center. He was born in Wichita on January 22, 1942 to Walter and Alberta (Tawney) Metzler.

He was raised on a farm near Ogallah until age 14, when the family moved to WaKeeney. He graduated from Trego Community High School in 1960 and attended Emporia State University. He married Margaret Honas in Biloxi, Mississippi on January 29, 1963.

He was employed in the oil field for about 20 years, then drove semi professionally for about 20 years. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and treasure hunting. He was a member of DeMolay, the American Legion, and the Sons of the American Revolution.

He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Lisa Morton and husband Royce, Ellis and Lori Zimmerman and husband Brian, Ulysses; three sons, David Metzler and wife Holly, Dodge City, James Metzler and wife Becky, Ellis, Neal Metzler and Terrisa Metzler, Castle Rock, CO; twelve grandchildren; Austin Morton and wife Nicole, Matt Morton and wife Kristi, Rachel Zimmerman, Clayton Zimmerman, Jody Zimmerman, Jessica Mick and fianc Ryan Shenk, Amanda Metzler, Cori Scobee, Dakota Metzler, Colton Metzler, Ethan Metzler and Connor Metzler; five great-grandchildren; Chevelle Morton, Braxton Morton, Raylen Morton, Hunter Shenk, and Noah Scobe.

He was preceded in death by his father in WWII and his mother.

Services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 9th at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ellis with inurnment following services in St Marys Cemetery. Services in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637.

The family will be present to greet friends on Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church

Memorials are suggested to St Marys School in Ellis and may be sent in care of in care of the funeral home.
