Obituary



Kathleen Sue (Rome) Gross age 70, of Hays, Kansas passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

She was born January 18, 1953, in Hays, Kansas to Wilfred and Fidelia (Schmidt) Rome. She married Daniel Andrew "Danny" Gross on May 13, 1978, in Hays, Kansas.

Kathleen was a homemaker, worked at Travenol Labs, Vernies Hamburger House; and was a volunteer at the Community Assistance Center in Hays for over 30 years. She grew up in Russell, Kansas and was 1971 graduate of Russell High School, and during high school she worked at the Russell A & W.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel "Danny" Gross, of the home; her children, Cody Gross, Hays, KS; Lacy Gross-Augustine and husband, Bryce, Gardner, KS; her grandchildren, Addisson and Camden Augustine; her brothers, Bill Rome and wife, Marsha, Houston, TX; Delmar Rome and wife Deanna, Russell, KS; Jim Rome and wife, Lynn, Salina, KS; her sisters, Linda Rome, Hays, KS; Charlene Petty, Olathe, KS.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother-in-law, Paul Petty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine, Hays, Kansas with Father David Michael officiating. Burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Monday, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Monday, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

The family suggests memorials made payable to: Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
