Obituary



Julia Weber age 59, of Hays, Kansas died Monday, February 1, 2021, at her home. She was born June 7, 1961 at Houston, Texas to Dr. Joseph Balthaser OD and Margaret Ann (Burton) Brungardt. She married Mitchell Weber on April 17, 1982 in Victoria, Kansas. Her and Mitch recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary with their family surrounding them.

She managed her husbands Weber Photography business he started in 1980 for 20 plus years as well as sub teaching for USD 489 and surrounding towns. She attended Fort Hays State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Education in May of 1984. She grew up in Victoria, and was 1979 graduate of Victoria High School.

She enjoyed the flexibility of being able to be home as much as possible while her children were young and take on extra jobs when she could. After her older children were grown and out of the house, she accepted a teaching position at St. Marys Catholic grade school in Ellis, KS in 2005. Shortly after she started working, she was diagnosed with an incurable autoimmune disease that primarily affected her lungs (CREST syndrome). Julie finished out that year teaching, and quickly became homebound as she needed oxygen 24/7.

Her prognosis was not good and agreed to have chemotherapy treatments which she finished in 2007. She found joy watching her four oldest children marry and babysitting her three grandsons. When her second grandson, Kayden, was diagnosed with liver cancer as a toddler, she begged for Gods mercy to save him, and he received a miracle beating the cancer. She was the biggest prayer warrior and prayed for many people close and distant. She was a member of Christian Mothers and Perpetual Adoration for 28 years. Julie was an enduring advocate for the Pro-Life movement, and attending many marches and rallies. She was a member of St. Josephs Church for 39 years. The last few years of her home-bound life, she enjoyed visits from her family, baking, praying, and watching old westerns.

Survivors include her husband. Mitch Weber, of the home; two sons, Aaron Weber and wife, Karen Aviles-Weber, Pensacola, FL; Bryan Weber, Hays, KS; four daughters, Rebecca Winkelman and husband, Dace, Victoria, KS; April Tiernan and husband, Kerry, Hays, KS; Rachel Ruder, and husband, Blake, Hays ,KS; Bethany Weber and boyfriend, Jeremy Pasek, Hays, KS; three grandchildren, Michael, Kayden and Colton Tiernan; her mother, Margaret Ann Brungardt, Victoria, KS; three brothers, Charles Brungardt, Victoria, KS; Dan Brungardt and wife, Janet, Benton, KS; Al Brungardt and wife, Brenda, Augusta, KS; two sisters, Laurie Fajardo and husband, John, Augusta, KS; Sister Mary Elizabeth Brungardt C.P., Ellisville, MO.

She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Joseph A. Brungardt; and an infant sister, Catherine Mary Brungardt.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February, 5, 2021, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas. Burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

A visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, and from 9:00 to 10:45 A.M. Friday. all at The Basilica of St. Fidelis. A vigil service and a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Divine Vine Mercy Radio in care of the mortuary.
