Obituary
Josephine Horinek Mazanec, age 101, of Hays, KS passed away at her home on May 4th, 2021. She was born March 18th, 1920 in Atwood, KS to Frank Horinek, Jr., and Caroline (Janousek) Horinek. She married Raymond James Mazanec on May 1, 1945.
She loved quilting, embroidering, and crocheting. She loved to play bingo, gamble, and travel to the casinos with her sweetheart. Her most cherished time was family time. Josephine and Raymond were members of the Sunflower Polka Club.
Josephine was employed as an assembly line worker at Travenol in Hays KS.
She is survived by her three daughters: Caroline Hilmes of WaKeeney, KS; Antonetta "Toni" Lang of Hays, KS; and Ramona "Mona" (Bruce) Young of Lakewood, CO. Four grandchildren: Bill and Liz Hilmes, KS; Diana and Kirk Ficken, KS; Matthew and Amanda Young, CO; Stephanie and Brett Graham, CO; ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Frank, Paul, and Charlie; her sister: Antonetta Prokop; a grandson: Joseph Lang; and two sons-in-law: Larry Hilmes and Frank Lang.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at 10 AM at St Josephs Catholic Church, 215 West 13th Street Hays, KS 67601. Visitation will be Monday, May 10th, 2021 from 5 PM to 8 PM with a combined parish vigil and rosary service at 7 PM at Brocks-Keithley Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine Street Hays, KS 67601. Interment will be in the State of Kansas Veterans Cemetery at WaKeeney on Tuesday at 2 PM.
