Obituary



Joseph "Joe" Charles Beatty, age 76, of Victoria, Kansas passed away April 9, 2022. Joe was born November 19, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri to Atwell Charles Beatty and Helen Jessie Jewell.

Joe enjoyed, puzzles, watches, radios, listening to music, smoking cigarettes, and eating candy bars. He also enjoyed watching television, fishing, and his friends. Joe really liked receiving big presents. He has received services from Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas since September of 1988. Prior to that, he resided at Norton State Hospital. When Norton State closed, Joe came to DSNWK, Inc., first living in a group home on Marshall Street in Hays. At the time of his passing, Joe was living in a DSNWK group home in Victoria. Joe had a way of making his choices known, and was a great advocate for himself. He was very charismatic and lit up any room he entered with his bold, enjoyable personality and a big smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Agnes and Hazel and a brother James. Joe also leaves behind many friends and staff who supported him over the years.

Services will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Brocks~Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, Kansas.
