John R Harkness

John Raymond Harkness, Wichita, 49, died Friday, January 11, 2013 in Wichita. He was born April 4, 1963 in Hays, Kansas to Robert A. and Catherine M. (Dreiling) Harkness. He graduated from Thomas More Prep in 1981 and from Fort Hays State University.

He enjoyed sports and especially Fort Hays State University, The University of Kansas, Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He is survived by two brothers, Robert B. Harkness of Hays and Charles A. Harkness and wife Donna of Wichita; a sister, Diane M. Kowal and husband Allan of Overland Park and two nieces, Dr. Megan (Kowal) Saettele and husband Dr. Tim Saettele and Stephanie Kowal.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday 5:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday 9:00 A.M. 9:30 A.M. at Brocks North Hill Chapel 2509 vine Hays, KS 67601.

A rosary service will be Monday at 6:00 P.M. followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30 P.M. all at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested to the St. Joseph Food Pantry, in care of St. Joseph Church, 210 w. 13th, Hays KS 67601.
