John Bieker

John P. Bieker, age 84, of Hays, Passed away Sunday, November 28th at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born on July 26, 1926 in Ellis, Kansas to Sylvester and Barbara (Aschenbrenner) Bieker. He attended Ellis High School. He married Irene Catherine Fisher on Feb. 26, 1946 in Ellis. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2001.John worked as a cementer for Sun Cementing and he owned Golden B Hydra Drilling Company for 20 plus years. After retirement from Golden B John became active in driving the Fort Hays State University Basketball Team bus and also the Hays Larks. He was a US Navy Veteran, a member of the Sunflower Polka Club, Hays American Legion and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.John is survived by two sons, Ken Bieker and wife Jeanette of Ozawkie, KS. and Duane "Doc" Bieker and wife Phyllis of Hays; two daughters, Kathy Schmidt and husband Richard of Hays and Paula Johnson and husband Greg of Ozawkie, KS.; three brothers, Clarence and Albert of Hays and Frank of Salina. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Martin.Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday at Immaculate heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday and from 9:00 to 9:30 am on Thursday all at Brock's North Hill Chapel ~ 2509 Vine ~ Hays, KS. 67601.A parish vigil service at 6:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.Memorials are suggested to Fort Hays State University Endowment or Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
