Obituary
JoAnn (Lang) Brown age 92, of Hays, Kansas died Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Via Christi Village Care Center, Hays, Kansas.
She was born July 8, 1928, in Ness City, Kansas to John J. and Margaret (Schoenberger) Lang. She married Lawrence F. "Red" Brown on August 27, 1953, in Hays, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2014.
She and her sister operated the Klothes Kloset Dress Shop in Hays years, and was a waitress at Professor Pitterwursts Inn for 16 years. She grew up in Hays, was a graduate of Hays High School, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She did a lot of boating and water skiing in her younger years, she enjoyed her gardening and yard work, and was the best grandma.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence J. "Larry" Brown, Hays, KS; Patrick J. Brown and wife, Kim, Hays, KS; one brother, Francis Lang and wife, Micky, AZ; one sister, Lorine "Beans" Uttecht, Yuba City, CA; six grandchildren, Kristy Brown; Bridget Hargraves and husband, Keith; Rachel Tyler and husband, Travis; Lawrence P. Brown; Nicki Gonder and husband, Mitch; Austin J. Brown; four great grandchildren, Elijah Tyler; Josephine Hargraves; Sloan Gonder; and Noah Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Raymond, John T., and Julius Lang; five sisters, Pauline Doerfler, Anna Dreiling, Marcella Jakeucnicz, Rita Weigel, Mary Alice Cook; one infant brother, Eugene Lang; and one infant sister, Katie Lang.
A funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas and Inurnment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
