Obituary
Jeffrey James "Jeff" Hertel age 60, of Victoria, Kansas, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at his home.
He was born September 17, 1961 at Hays, Kansas to Clarence and Rosemary (Maurath) Hertel.
He owned and operated Victoria City Motors Company and was the former owner of Victoria City Liquor. Jeff grew up in Victoria and was a 1979 Graduate of Victoria High School. He was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis, the Munjor 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 11492, the Victoria 4th Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus, President of the Victoria Housing Authority, and a board member of the Cathedral of The Plains Charitable Fund, Inc.
Survivors include his daughter, Brittney Lorson and Chad Lorson, both of Hope, KS;
his grandchildren, Brighton Paul Lorson; Brixton James Lorson; Bristol Ann Lorson; his special friend, Kimberly Smith, Walker, KS; his sisters, Cindy Mason, Hays, KS; Maxine Moser and Ray Milojevich, Tigard, OR; his brothers, Tim Hertel and Nancy Foust, Hays, KS; Stanley Hertel and wife, Lori, Hays, KS; Patrick Hertel and Maria Gonzalez, Franklin, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Delane Mason; his nephew, Steven Lee Hertel; and his nieces, Leslie Mason and Ana Rose Hertel.
Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 2, 2022 at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas with Father Harvey Dinkel Ofm.Cap. and Father James Moster ofm.Cap. officiating. Burial will be in Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.
A 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, followed by a vigil service both at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Friday, at the Basilica of St. Fidelis
The family suggests memorials payable to: the organization The Basilica of St. Fidelis or The Cathedral of The Plains Charitable Fund, Inc.
