Janette Kay Handle

Janette Kay Handle, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2025, at Azria Health Woodhaven in Great Bend, Kansas. Born on November 29, 1954, in Oakley, Kansas, she was the cherished daughter of her late parents, Wayne and Catherine Nelson, and the proud mother to three daughters and a son. Known affectionately by many as “Mom,” Janette had a warm and welcoming spirit, never knowing a stranger, and her home was always filled with love and laughter.

Janette was a talented cook and bartender, proudly serving her community at The Horseshoe Bar and Grill in Hays, Kansas. Her culinary skills and friendly demeanor made her a favorite among patrons and colleagues alike. She brought joy to those around her, creating a sense of family wherever she went.

She attended schools in Oakley, Kansas and Janette carried with her a lifelong love for learning, often challenging herself with word searches to keep her mind sharp. A true artist at heart, she found great delight in Diamond Art, drawing, and coloring, showcasing her creativity through her various hobbies.

Janette found immense joy in her family, which included her son, Michael Ray Handle, her daughters Tammy (Jeff) Sanders, Tonia (Doug) Rutledge, and Catherine Bridges. Her legacy lives on through her 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, together with her sister, Waunetta Goswick, all of whom she adored with unending affection.

In her spare time, Janette delighted in watching Disney cartoons, allowing the whimsical stories to brighten her days. Her kindness, artistic talents, and devotion to her family will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Janette Kay Handle leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
