Obituary



Janet G. Howard, age 86, formerly of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the Wheat State Manor Care Center in Whitewater, Kansas.

She was born January 1, 1936, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Roy and Alma (Haskett) Edwards. Janet was married to Patrick Howard for over 30 years when they separated.

Janet grew up in Stillwater and was a 1957 graduate of Stillwater High School. She was a nurses aid for a number of years and was a cook at Baker University in Baldwin City, and she retired in 2001. She has been a resident at the care center for the last four years. Janet loved all her family dearly.

Survivors include her children, Lynda Falley and husband, Duane, Victoria, KS; Jeanie Shackelford, Andover, KS; and Jerry Howard and wife, Laurie, Medford OR; her seven grandchildren; her 11great grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Mason, Topeka, KS; her brother, Tommy Edwards, Wichita, KS; and many nieces; and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Alma Edwards; her brothers, Ernest Edwards; Roy Gerald Edwards; Mike Edwards; and her former husband, Patrick Howard.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Rock Creek Church of Christ, 2264 South Hwy 59, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Burial was in the Fouts Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
