Obituary



James A. Jacobs, 82, of Hays, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021, with his children at his side. He was born March 26, 1938, to Magdalena (Kisner) and Frank Jacobs. He was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy. He married Virginia Lee (Pfeifer) on August 18, 1972 in Hays.



James (Jake) will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty, his church (Immaculate Heart of Mary), golfing, singing, reading, playing guitar, and serving Hays Medical Center for over three decades.



He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the U.S S. Forrestal and U.S.S. Ranger.



Survivors include one daughter, Clarine (Shawn); one son, Franciscus Wolfgang; granddaughters, Danielle, Maria, Ella; and extended family (nieces, nephews, and in-laws).



He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Lee, on February 19, 2017; his parents; and nine siblings, Bridget, Ben, Barbara, Ann, Helen, Wilma Jean, Jake, Ralph, and Robert.



Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Monday, January 25, 2021, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Josephs Cemetery with military honors courtesy of the Hays VFW Honor Guard.
